Asthma Region 8 Putting on A.I.R.S, (Asthma
Indoor Risk Strategies)
program
This free asthma management program provides supports to clients with asthma through a home visit conducted by a Public Health Nurse and an Environmental Specialist.
The nurse reviews the asthma action plan provided by the physician, physician
prescribed medications, as well as educates the client (in case of young
children their parents or guardian) in understanding ways to manage their
asthma. The environmental specialist assesses the home to help identify possible
environmental triggers and recommends strategies to minimize asthma triggers in
the home.
The West Haven Health Department, in partnership with greater New Haven Health
departments offers the Putting on AIRS*
(Asthma
Indoor Risk
Strategies) program. If you are a
West Haven resident who suffers persistent asthma related illnesses, this CT
Department of Public Health funded program is available through your health
department at no cost.
The focus of the Putting on AIRS
program is to identify possible environmental issues that may be occurring in
the home and trigger asthma related illnesses. The health department nurse and
environmental specialist can visit your home to assess for environmental
triggers that may contribute to persistent asthma related illnesses.
A confidential report will be developed as part of the asthma sufferer’s medical
record and shared with their Health Care provider as a tool to help control the
asthma related illnesses.
If you would like more information on the
Putting on AIRS program or would like to schedule an in-home visit contact
